This is a day for tears for all Floyd Heads like me.  A great loss to musicians today when the announcement was made of Rick's passing!  It has not yet been said what form of cancer it was that took this great artist away from us.

Rick Wright, founder of Pink Floyd was a great self-taught keyboard player appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason. One of the BEST musicians, song writters, performer and entertainer that is already a big part of history and live on through all who has appreciated a great man! Rest in Peace My Brother!

I have been a Floyd fan since I was 10 years of age which would have made me a fan since the first album released!  So what if I'm old...I know it and still ROCK ON with the best of them!  I will always be one of their biggest fans till the day I pass on!  So what can I say....I'm a proud FLOYD HEAD!!!

Please give a moment of silence for a great musician......................

MAY HE CONTINUE TO PLAY ON FOR THE ANGEL'S IN HEAVEN!

The first Floyd album (yes album, vinal) I heard was Dark Side of the Moon in the early 70s. I saw a concert in Denver in 1976, it was great. Even though we will miss the entainers the music will live on.

I put on The Wall and listened to it. I am so glad I had a record player to play it. It is in an album jacket with 2 in it. Brought back a lot of memories. It's actually the only one I have left, they seem to have vanished throughout the years.
Di, happy you can come back every now and again to blog.

Oh man, that really stinks! I was hoping
to catch them at least once more!
He is a very gifted keyboardist
and a great musical pioneer.
I'm crushed, he will be sorely missed.
Nobody will ever compare to this great
band and their talented members and replacing
either one will probably not be an option.

BTW, I always thought David Gilmour
was with the band from the beginning...
Interesting!

Thanks for the news BTBW. :(

Yah Eric...No, I have all their original albums and CD's but only one Video...I need to improve that collection!

Smitty - Gilmour started playing in the band Joker's Wild in 1963 but left that band in 1966. He joined Pink Floyd January 1968 in which their then became a 5 piece band.

Patti...did you know that after the back-to-back successes of "Dark Side of the Moon" and then "Wish You Were Here", Waters took more control over the band, writing most of "Animals" and "The Wall" by himself. Rick Wright was fired during The Wall sessions and the relationship between Gilmour and Waters further deteriorate during the making of "The Wall" film and the 1983 Pink Floyd album "The Final Cut". You know how the Wall came crashing down in one take during the concert...well so did the band then! But they did manage to have a great come back!

I did not know that. That's pretty interesting, I am going to tell my son that and see if he knew. He is the one that took all my albums and lost them. I think the wall was his favorite, that's why it's still here.
