I GOT YOUR BOOP-BOOP-A-DOOP BABY!

Gas mix with ethanol seems to be failing among consumers!  Things have been happening shortly following the 10% ethanol being added to the fuel mixture and people are getting frustrated because…

…they are paying the same amount per gallon.

…it costs consumers even more in the when they need to make more fill up’s.

…their vehicle performance does not give that 100% needed.

…they are getting lesser gas mileage out from it but paying the same price of regular non-mixed fuel.

Shouldn’t the price differences have started to show after those who post the 10% Ethanol warning?

And if the mixed fuel is priced the same of the non-mix, then it would be better invested towards the non-mix fuel for better mileage for your vehicle.  So where exactly does the better quality savings really stand?

Who dropped the ball here? N/A

Who gained by this, the Oil Companies at an even higher profit margin or the store merchants who sell the product? N/A

How do you feel?

And I bet you paid the same price for the mix as you would have for the regular! Both my SUV and Motorcycle runs like BLEEP! Everyone I know is asking these very same questions and are complaining about it! And here we were all told it would lower the price of gas...NOT! This mixture is failing through price, performance, mileage, and is causing vehicle problems and may even cause costly damages to boot!

ethanol gives you less Horsepower and less fuel mileage and cost the same as reg gas. So where is the savings?? In some vehicles it also damages the fuel system which was not designed to use Ethanol. I have seen several warning about useing it in Boats with built in tanks. There are many reports of fuel tanks leaking and causing Fires. They use all this Corn to make Ethanol and drive up food cost, feed cost and for what???

Interestingly enough it was only 2 years ago when we had cut gas, that had similar solvent properties and energy output as ethanol. With the exception that MTBE is a carcinogenic thats readily absorbed by ground water. The prices went up when MTBE was banned and ethanol couldn't meet the demand, so we started finding shortages in importation and refining capabilities and the price went up before it could be added. Rough numbers some 40 million more barrels of gas per day we used after MTBE was banned. In Florida we could have had anywhere from 2- 15% cut gas, but it wasn't required by law to tell us. realistically numbers I found are around 3-8% we had.

My 1999 car even though it is old always ran smooth. Now from putting in gas with 10% mix it run terrible and I don't get the gas mileage I did before. I did take it in to see if I had a problem and they could not find anything but said that the gas could be making it run and idle rough. SO there you go again, it's always something out of your control.. BooP-A-Doop girl : )

Not to mention that Ethanol
like other alcohol or methanol
based liquids have hygroscopic
properties meaning that they
attract lots of moisture if not
100% COMPLETELY SEALED AND stored in a
DRY PLACE!

This perfect condition can't exist here in FL
as we are way too humid. In aviation
it is advised to always top the tanks
after flying to keep the moisture
content low in the tanks. 100 Octane Low Lead
aviation fuel has about 25% alcohol and
can be deadly if sumps are not checked for water before every flight.

It's also such a shame that our government learns nothing from past poo-poos
like Gasahol! Yes, my nice little SUV which
ran like a charm now runs like shite also!

It appears that the big guys are adding ethanol and some of the independents are too.
It has been going on in the midwest for years and the mileage stinks when you use it.
Best thing is to not buy the ethanol and maybe then those jerks who decided to use it will get the message but I doubt if many drivers will care as long as they can fillup since few will even look to see if ethanlol is being added
The mention of ethanol is on the pumps but how can the average driver know what it really means just another market for someone to make a profit at the drivers expense.
Like all the pollution control gimmicks on todays cars they add to the cost and create much inconvenienc when maintenance is needed.
Special tools needed to do anything even changing your own oil is a hassle.
Many are too lazy to do any kind of work on their cars too busy with other personal agendas.

Every station I've been to in the past 3 months has contained at least 10% ethanol. You know someplace that is not putting it in the gas??

I agree with smitty's post yet disagree with it, as MTBE is a carcinogenic form of methanol. We were using it in 2-8% concentrations in Florida before it was banned. Methanol was never federally mandated to display it's alcohol content on the pump like ethanol.. I think part of the problem people see the stickers and think it contains that much octane and oxygen enhancer and it scares them. Just cause it says 10% doesn't mean you'll get any it depends on how much of this self sufficient fuel source Brazil can ship to fl and how much they add in Tampa.

It has already ruined one set of tanks in my boat..it eats the lining..and I am still waiting to get my motor fixed.Ate up seals and washed the oil off parts that NEEDED oil...I would (and did) park the hog until they switch back.Even my mower hates it, and it'll almost burn anything, even stale!

Myfreespeech, I just went to a BP in Casselberry and YUP, it contains at least 10% ethanol too. I think they are all doing it now. I'm guessing this is a way to cut consumption. When all our cars break down and we can't afford to fix them, we all have to walk....

Bascially, ethanol burns faster, so the gas with ethanol mixed in burns faster than the gas without ethanol, so you have to buy more of the ethanol stuff to get to the same place that would take less of the non ethanol stuff.

Now I am having to fix the fuel system in my truck...ate up the regulator for the fuel injection system.Another example of the treehuggers getting a legal way to screw us!
You people know where all the anti-capitalist,anti-USA communists went after the '60's, right? To the "Green" movement. What a great way to screw up our economy.....
