I GOT YOUR BOOP-BOOP-A-DOOP BABY!

As some here know I went to the mountains (back home) to see my friends and family.  We went to a fireworks display that is a traditional thing that has gone on for years from a wealthy family in Virginia.  But this year for the first time ever, a dramatic unexpected explosion happened causing injury!

It would seem that you never know what could happen when carelessness and alcohol partake with fuses and gunpowder, (a major accident waiting to happen).

As the traditional fireworks started, everything was a thing of beauty which lit up the mountainside with colors of our fourth of July celebration!  What we didn't understand is why they seemed to go off sooner then usual instead of way up in the sky like normal!  We even wondered why they had other things going off so close to the lined up fire power of the bigger fireworks!  Well, we got our answer in a way we kinda saw coming!

Apparently, the guys in charge of setting off the fireworks were drinking and to add cutting the fuses short.  Now to us common since people that within itself is asking for problems to happen.  And it did!  One cut down fuse took off causing that set of fireworks to explode on the ground and a chain reaction then followed triggering all the other surrounding fireworks to go off as well.  People went running to help the ones trapped within the line of fire thinking it was over and safe, and to get to those who where injured!  Wrong call but good intent!  Just as soon as they got to them a delayed reaction set off the rest of all the fireworks and all you could see is everyone running and diving to the ground as it exploded!  Once that was over with there were already people calling 911!  Three people were injured, one with multible burns throughout his body!

Why people take such chances such as this risking spectators as well is beyond me but hopfully there is a long time not forgotten lesson to be learned here now with smarter and wiser safety percausion that will be made for future traditional celebrations such as this!  Thank goodness no one was killed, just scared for life!  A display of fireworks no one could forget!

Any comments or opinions?

Hopefully, the injuries will heal, and the external scars will fade, leaving only memories that are unpleasant enough, that nothing like that will ever happen to any of those who witnessed that horrible tragedy again! I'm sorry your fun time had a monkey wrench (no insult intended to Mater) thrown into it like that! I hope your Boop-Boop-A-Doop will be on the mend-a-loop right quick, Darlin'!

Sounds like it was scary and exciting. I sure hope those folks think before they light another fuse. Especially if it is a short one.

Hope you had fun.

Oh that must have been scary to see. I could not imagine being there to have fun and seeing people getting hurt. What a tragic memory that will be every year..
Too bad the world is full misfits that can't do things the right way.

I know that's right! And being there was only one road to the area which is a big farm/ranch of hundreds of acres, it was really scary knowing that emergency vehicles would need a way to get to the injured, didn't help! Why does everyone feel the need to surround the victims to look? We were with family and a biker group that literally had to start telling people to stay away and clear the way for emergency vehicles and the police. We were all in the safe zone across the creek which Florida would call a river. One bridge in and out so everyone on our end left except the few getting the way cleared. Everybody has got to look??? I could understand if it was anyone in the medical field but good grief! Actually my trip was doomed from day one...one thing after the next, almost $700 in gas alone round trip, my truck has problems because of bad gas, plus a broken windshield from a rock off a semi tire, and it rained the whole time! But all in all I did get to see people I dearly care about and got some mountain pictures of some parts of home. Go to my photos to see them!

Looking good!

I didn't grow up in the mountains, but we traveled every summer to North Carolina and surrounding areas. We would visit our friends in Whittier and climb trails and visit caves. I miss the beauty of it.
