Hi my friends, Well I have the honor of filling in for Tom today and tomorrow, which is really cool, but I just wanted to say I am sorry that I was not so chipper today.. my grandfather passed away over the weekend and I am sad..  He had fallen ill since January we were expecting it, but it is still hard and sad to see my grandmother, mom, and aunt (who is actually younger than me 30yrs old) go through this..

Thanks for your concerns in advance..

Alexis

Sorry to hear of your loss Alexis, I know how that is, I have lost a lot of family over the years, grandparents on both sides, my father-in-law 3 years ago, my mother about year ago, and currently the wife and I are not sure how well her mother is going to fare, but we both seem to think her time may be coming soon from the way she's been going downhill over the past few months. So our prayers are with you, just be strong and be there when your family needs you, I know it's hard, but family members look for the males to be stronger in this than the women and children.

God Bless You and we'll add you to our prayers here.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Alexis! Look at it this way, though: You had him for a lot longer
than most people have a Grandpa! Wow! Think of all he must have seen in his life! And knowing
you are a Christian man, I'd bet he was too, soooo... you know what that means! You WILL be reunited with him one day! Hallelujah!

Alexis - there is no need to apologize. I'm amazed you came into work. Can't you take bereavement?

Expecting it doesn't make it any sadder, even if it does give some time to prepare for the idea.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

On a 'happier?' note - I have wanted to give you props for the way you covered an alligator attack awhile back. ...the one where the woman saw the gator, called the police, cop tried to wrestle it, etc...

I LOVED how you used visuals, interpretive techniques and props to describe the size of the gator (yourself, the cones, laying on the ground). It can be hard to visualize these things when you are just hearing numbers and you did a great job of making it easy to understand and appreciate the size of the animal.

I work in a zoo - so I am familiar with gators (which brings up a pet peeve actually, - 8 feet long, is NOT a huge gator, it's average, to on the small, adult size - huge would be more like 14 or 15 feet, but right now, I want to compliment you), but many people are not, so I want to commend you on your descriptiveness.

Again - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

((hugs))

Hola everyone, I have been back in Florida for almost a year now, and it is great to be back and part of the FOX 35 News Team. I am amazed of how many people remember me from when I was a National/International Reporter for Telemundo Network... For nine years I was assigned to New York and Puerto Rico... But what is even more interesting is that I met a woman from South Africa and a gentlemen from Russia who knew who I was. They remembered me from the Network show I was on, then I remembered it was such a popular show (a spanish dateline) it was sold to other countries, 25 to be exact and translated to their corresponding languages.. Before FOX 35, I was the main News Anchor at Univision 23 / Dallas, Texas. It was a great experience being a part of a team that became the number one news station in that market... Well I hope to hear from you, share your thoughts and ideas... SALUDOS A TODOS =)... Alexis
