p.s. My brother has a beautiful mansion in Old Havana which he has converted to a bed and breakfast, he himself converted to Judism years ago in order to live well and protect his family, he speaks 7 languages and has many friends in NYC; Europe; Israel and that's where they stay. He serves as a guide and provides for what I hear the best meals in town...

So why have you not taken a trip down there Candy ? I told you before it is not hard to get in any more we have “aid trips” leaving almost every week (sure its a scam but in your case why not!) . I will warn you tho that if you go one one of those trips you will have to put up with a lot of mandatory “state propaganda” and it is probably unwise while there to speak out even if you know you are right and your “handler” is wrong. Remember to bring extra blue genes and if you are taking the kids be sure to “screw their head on “ before you go ! Castro runs a tight ship and his presentation (its like an evil time share pitch) is very well built and often sends young Americans home convinced that we are the cause of all Cuba's ills.
But the natural beauty of the island is as it was , the cities on the other hand are not even remotely close to the way my father described them (think Tijuana on a bad day without any of the bright colors!) ...and (as if I have to say it!) do not let your children (or your husband LOL) explore on their own !

I hear you RNC08...and I AM PETRIFIED of going to Cuba..my husband wont allow it and he wont go with me and I am scared just because I HAVE A BIG MOUTH AND MIGHT END UP well shot to death or with my luck they will keep me there. I don't know if it is true or not..but they say those cubans, like me that left in 60's are not welcome very kindly..I would in some near future if CUBA is ever free..then I would love to see where I was born and my island. I remember very little and I also have very few pictures that my mother was able to bring. However, I would love to have that video my brother made in 2001 be view WORLD WIDE..it depicts a total different cuba...sorry I just get emotional when I think of all the tragedy my family has gone through..and HOW ARE FAMILY WAS RIPPED APART. it was my mother's dream to united all of us..AND MAYBE WITH THE GRACE OF GOD..one day I can sit and have dinner with all four of my brothers, their wives and their children..THAT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE.....ok now I am in tears..so gotta get off the subject..thanks for your thoughts.

p.s. My brother, told me that there were some tourist..and of course, when you see Fidel and his men, you are not AT ANY TIME to even look their way, well the tourist didn't believe or didn't think he would be in harms way, just wanted to take a picture and he was shot dead ..I was overwhelmed..Now, I figure me and my two cents..yep I be dead in a heartbeat...

It all depends on how you are seen (by the regime) if you go Candy if you are vied as a loud mouth deserter/turn coat /ex patriot your trip will be one way ! But on the other hand if you are seen as just another loud American the same “rule” as Africa , South America, Russia , China and even parts of Europe applies you will make it home just fine but it will cost you some good old American green backs ! Castro (and now his Little brother) “Hates America” but he sure loves our money ! LOL

My Best Friend is Cuban. Her Mom and Dad escaped, and she was blessed to be born in the USA. They have family there that they haven't heard from in years. "Abuela" says there is "No way" she'll ever return there, as long as Castro is alive, or any member of his family has anything to do with the government. From the stories "Abuela" has told me, I can hardly blame her! But she does have some beautiful (a very few) photographs!

was stationed there for a while, other than the cigars I found nothing there worth my time. Cuba is the second worst duty station I have ever served at...puerto rico was the worst of all. If you go...beware of the moths...damn things are big as buzzards and will dive bomb anything light colored

FYI: There are two daily trips that leave from Miami International Airport. I don't know how many leave from L.A. or New York. But it is not illegal to travel to Cuba anymore...

80's metal.....they are..the island is SO BEAUTIFUL..I mean the architecture of those buildings ..it is just so sad to see how deteriorated they are now. The video is priceless. I don't know how my brother did it and took it out of the country and I guess for security purposes he doesn't tell me and I try very hard not to ask too many questions. LOL

Hola everyone, I have been back in Florida for almost a year now, and it is great to be back and part of the FOX 35 News Team. I am amazed of how many people remember me from when I was a National/International Reporter for Telemundo Network... For nine years I was assigned to New York and Puerto Rico... But what is even more interesting is that I met a woman from South Africa and a gentlemen from Russia who knew who I was. They remembered me from the Network show I was on, then I remembered it was such a popular show (a spanish dateline) it was sold to other countries, 25 to be exact and translated to their corresponding languages.. Before FOX 35, I was the main News Anchor at Univision 23 / Dallas, Texas. It was a great experience being a part of a team that became the number one news station in that market... Well I hope to hear from you, share your thoughts and ideas... SALUDOS A TODOS =)... Alexis
