Wanted to run this by you guys and see what you'd do....

This weekend, hubby was mowing the lawn and we discovered a strip of grass all along the gate dividing my yard and the neighbor's, was completely brown.  I know for a fact it was my next door neighbor b/c she did the same thing to the people that live on the other side of her. She told them she had sprayed weed killer b/c grass was growing under the fence into her yard.  Here's the kicker...she walked into both yards to do this.  It's a big brown strip all the way from the side of the house to the back. 

Yet another kicker...I've known her for almost 20 years! She's an old friend of the family from back in Miami!! I am so pissed off at this.

I know she'd never watch the news in English so she won't read this herself but I'm hoping her daughter might...remember than 80'sMetalhead believes in an eye for an eye...

So what do you guys think? How would you handle this??

Tresspass warrant and a bill for resodding.

Friends dont do this to your lawn, So im guessing shes not a real friend of the family after all.

Did she use round up, or diesel? If you can prove it was an unlawful treatment, you may be able to do something. If she has been allowed on your property, then she has not trespassed. You can have it done legally, but now it's too, late. Ask her not to spray the area again. Give the area 6 months to recover, then re-sod. Make sure it was her, and not cinch bugs, or sink hole.

She's definitely no friend anymore.
I don't know what she did, but I'm positive it was her. It's a perfect straight line all along the fence and the neighbor to her other side has one just like it.

Sounds like she used motor oil (will not go into details on that one) you can possibly save the grass but you will need to water it a lot and cut it at least 3 of 4 inches long (no shorter than that) until it recovers...after that I think adding an electric fence (just one wire about 6 inches off the ground) along her side would add some spice to her next attempt to poison your grass ! LOL and if she is using used motor oil it could get very entertaining.....

You are funny RNCO8. It is against the law to use diesel, or motor oil on the soil. If it shows up as any thing other than a chemical which is for grass removal, then you could call someone and maybe they could do something. From an environmental aspect.

I'd get down on my knees, clasp my hands together, gaze skyward and scream, "Why hast thou forsaken me!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Then I would beat myself to death with a rake by stepping on it over and over again.

I would have to go up and knock on her door and drag her over to the mess and ask why she did that and what she gonna do to fix it. Explaining that the same thing was done on the other neighbors lawn and that you know it had to be her. Get a pen and pad and have her sign it saying she did it, just in case you need to go to the peoples court. Use it against her if she does not make it right. Sounds better then beating a rake against your head over and over again..Silly norty..

Friends don't kill friend's grass. Ask her not to come on your side of the fence, tell her you don't need the "favor", remind her if she does it again. Grass grows back, lost friends seldom do.

I would call the EPA and tell them she sprayed a toxic substance on your grass, and you are scared for your children's health.
They will send out a haz mat team to test the soil. If it is a substance that is not legal for lawn treatment, she will be arrested!

It is truly amazing how an inexpencive security camera hooked to a VCR or any other recoeding device works to put an end to problems such as this.

I have a rental property next door and have had a camera aimed in that general direction for over 5 years. Thanks to that camera several renters have not lasted, with one jailed for burglery. The camera is aimed at my driveway but the wide angle lens takes in a lot of extra area.

Allot of people do that with the fence lines. The trick is to make it about 3 inches thick for a chain link fence and no more.

Our idiot neighbors sprayed gasoline on their grass to kill weeds and it leaked into our viburnum bushes and stunted them for three years. They've just started getting nice the last two years or so.

Norty, thanks for your sympathy but it isn't really necessary for you to hit yourself with a rake. I do, however, appreciate your thoughts. This woman is gonna get it right back at her. She has a habit of leaving her car windows down. hehe....

MetalHead,you didn't here this from me. This old and reliable recipe will require : 1 pr. gloves, 1 or 2 Ex-Lax tablets, 1 large and well fed cat. An over nighter with said dosed cat and the windows left slightly down should make an appropiate dish !

Its possible that she didnt come on your side of the fence. Ive used roundup down my fence line and around my house and if you spray alot it seems to really spread, the grass will die about a foot out from the line that you spray. A little goes a long way.
