The other day, I made a trip to the ER at FL Hospital East b/c my 2 year old had hurt himself.  He got a little too rough with his siblings and cousins and cut his eyelid with a toy helicopter. It started bleeding and wouldn't stop so I freaked.  Being an eye injury involving blood, I took him to the hosp. We got there at 3:30pm. They didnt call us until 8:55 pm. You know what it is to sit in a crowded, nasty ER with a tired, hungry, bored two year old??  The vending machines only take cash and I didnt want to go in search of an ATM for fear of missing his named being called. We left in such a hurry that I wasn't thinking of grabbing snacks to take with us at that moment.

The check-in nurse kept talking to me in Spanish b/c of our last name.  i asked her nicely many times to please speak in English. Finally, after about the 5th time, I barked at her. She said (and I kid you not),  "Oh, you have a Latin last name so I thought it might be easier for you".  What!?  Hello-w!!

Needless to say, I was less than happy at this point.  Not everyone has been in the country for a month or is mooching off of the government. I realize they're used to dealing with that, but   I was not thrilled at being lumped into that category. The only reason we were there to begin with is that I was visiting someone and that was the closest medical facility to their house.

We got home and my son fell right asleep without even eating b/c he's used to eating earlier and being at bed at 8.

Sometime dutring my wait, I was on the phone with hubby and he told me, "Just chill. I don't want to see you on the 10:00 news."

Does that sound like a fun evening or what?!

I thought this was pretty entertaining......

You thought it was entertaining? I hope that was sarcasm. Aggravating would be a better word for it! Wow! What an experience that must have been. Geez!

MetalHead, you have to teach your children to have serious accidents only Mon.-Thur. The rest of the week the ER's are dealing with the mugging, rape, and dope-deal gone bad victims ! When I was young I went to the then ORANGE MEMORIAL on a Friday night, there were no walk in clinics back then.I had taken a chunk out of a finger and needed a skin graph and numerious stitches to patch up my finger. I sat with a hankerchief aound my finger for 3 1/2 hours, someone did stop by to mop up the puddle of blood on the floor while I waited.
